Our Society for the Culture of New Guinea has set itself the task of promoting the understanding of art and culture, mission work and the history of New Guinea.

We are affiliated with the Centre Mission One World at Neuendettelsau. This is an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria. There is an extensive archive with documents, letters and reports of former employees of the Neuendettelsau Mission, as well as many relevant magazines and books from German and Australian colonial times. There is a comprehensive and invaluable archive of photography and a vast collection of artifacts (approx. 2,500 objects).

Objectives of our work


Aims

The Society for the Culture of New Guinea wants to provide the public with access to the artistic and cultural heritage from the past. By giving interesting evidence of the longstanding connection between people from New Guinea and Germany reaching back into the 19.th century.

The Society for the Culture of New Guinea aims at intercultural exchange inspired by respect, mutual acceptance and tolerance.

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Society for the Culture of New Guinea. If you are interested in becoming a member of our society:

  • Print out the membership application form (PDF). Fill it in and send it back to us.

Membership fee:

Annual fee: 30.- EUR ; for married couples 50.- EUR ; for students 15.- EUR

In Germany the membership fee can be deducted from taxes. You will receive a donation receipt that can be presented to the tax office.
